Tropical outdoor scene of a boxing match with the two fighters "pawing" at each other, while a crowd of spectators watches in the background. One boxer has dark skin, and wears long white tights with black shoes. The other boxer has light skin, and wears black shoes with white shorts over his long white tights.

According to the owner, the painting is difficult to date. The collection at the Whitney Museum of Art includes a Charles (Gus) Major painting of wrestlers dated ca. 1930. However, factors such as the boxers' Victorian uniform and the tropical locale, possibly Central America to circumvent either the ban on boxing, or the ban on inter-racial boxing matches, could date the painting to before 1910.
