IAS files contain an excerpt from a "Brief History and Description of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul," 1917, pg. 13 which notes that
Napoleon
LeBrun
was the supervising architect who worked with sketches submitted by Fathers Maller and Tornatore, professors in the Theological Seminary of St. Charles Borromeo, to determine the architecture of the cathedral. John Notman designed the facade and dome. This sculpture is one of four located in the four niches on the front of the cathedral. All four sculptures were given by James Givens in memory of his family.
