Inscription:  unsigned Description:  Six life-size figures under a pergola (sheltered framework), that echoes the arch of the old Seattle Interurban trolley station that was once located on the site. Figures include a suited business man, a woman eating, a student reading, a woman holding a child, a workman with pail, and a dog with a human face. The figures are made of aluminum sand cast from chain saw wood models. Richard Beyer was commissioned to create the sculpture, which cost approximately $10,000. Funds for construction costs and the artist's fee were raised by local groups. Through the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA), the Seattle Arts Commission provided a year's salary for Bruce Crowley to assist Beyer with the creation of the sculpture. Peter Larsen, of the design firm Environmental Works, developed the plans for the pergola. IAS files contain related excerpts from James M.
