    Remarks:
The sculpture was sculpted in Venice and cast in France around 1925, and was a major display piece in the Salon de Paris for several years. In 1930, the artist brought it to the United States for display in her one-woman show at the New York Fine Arts Gallery. It was chosen for exhibition at the French pavilion at the New York World's Fair of 1939, but the outbreak of World War II canceled French participation and it was not displayed. Sculpture was purchased by someone in New York and remained in storage there until 1949 when The Woman's Club of Stuart (Florida), headed by Aura Fike Jones (Mrs. Franklin Delano Jones), purchased it for $2,000 (its storage fees), raised through donation. Martin County paid $500 for shipping and installation. It was originally intended to be installed in Haney Circle, named after Cynthia Burnet Haney, a prohibitionist known for her strict moral character, but the open nature of the sculpture brought controversy. Instead, it was placed north of the old Martin County Courthouse. It was relocated to Memorial Park in 1961 when the Courthouse was expanded. In 1991, as part of renovations to downtown Stuart, the sculpture was relocated to Haney Circle. Architect Peter Jefferson designed the new walkway and seating around the basin, along with the landscaping and the lights. While sited in Stuart, the sculpture was once painted gold.
A site of the sculpture in Stuart once had the following plaque: ABUNDANCE/sculptured in Venice, Italy/by Manya Kanoeli(sic)/purchased and made a gift/to the city of Stuart/By/The Woman's Club of Stuart/placed in park/October 18, 1961/Relocated to Haney Circle/April 26, 1991.
