Remarks:
IAS files contain copies of unpublished report for "Restoration of Exterior Statues on the Capitol Grounds," prepared by Fischer-Wisnosky, architects, which gives Oct. 5, 1918 dedication date, as opposed to the April 18th date given on the base inscriptions. Funding for the statue, 50,000 dollars, appropriated by the Illinois General Assembly. See IAS files for pertinent pages excerpted from the Laws of the State of Illinois (1913, pg. 176), (1915, pg. 59-60), (1917, pg. 232). Unveiling of the statue was timed with Illinois centennial in 1918.
