    Remarks: 
    Dr. George Jones was mayor of Savannah, Senator, and founder of the Anti-Dueling Society of Georgia. He lived from 1766 to 1838. The Georgia Colonial Dames publication lists title as Dr. George Fenwick Jones and artist as Nathaniel Jocelyn, per mistaken report by former owner. IAP files contain copy of related correspondence from Rembrandt Peale dated May 29, 1825, and citation to pertinent pages in "The Selected Papers of Charles Willson Peale and His Family, Part I," Lillian B. Miller, ed., National Portrait Gallery.
