Description:
A standing female figure of painted metal. She wears classical drapery which is long and gathered at the waist. Her head is tilted down and to the proper left and her hair is held by a headband or ribbon. Her proper left leg is bent and her weight is on her proper right leg. The statue and base are painted a pale bluish-green color. The tiered rectangular base has a drinking fountain on either side.

Remarks:
This sculpture was originally located on the northwest corner of the courthouse square but was moved to its present location when the new courthouse was built. Erected by the Zollicoffer-Fulton Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy. IAS files contain related articles from Civil War Centennial Commission of Tennessee, "Directory of Civil War Monuments and Memorials in Tennessee," Nashville, 1963, pg. 41, which lists the inscriptions for the monument; and Elk Valley Times (Fayetteville, TN), March 16, 1972, which briefly describes the monument.
