    Description: 
    A bronze statue of an infantry soldier standing on a base. On the side of the base are two relief panels. One of the panels depicts two soldiers shaking hands in front of two groups of soldiers. On the front of the base is a bronze panel with the state seal. The Union soldier atop the base stands at parade rest. He wears a uniform which includes a hat with a bill. He holds the barrel of a rifle in both hands. The butt of the rifle rests in front of his proper left foot. His proper right foot is forward and bent at the knee.
