    Description: 
    Full-length figure of a uniformed Cavalry officer (possibly Col. Chatfield) stands atop a square pedestal and tiered base. The figure wears a uniform with wide-brimmed hat, gloves and riding boots. He holds his sword handle in his proper right hand and his proper left hand rests on his belt buckle. The figure wears a full moustache and beard.

    Remarks: 
    Monument honors Colonel John Lyman Chatfield, a Civil War officer who died of wounds sustained at Fort Wagner. It is not known if the sculpture is meant to be a likeness of Chatfield.
