    Description: 
    Site-specific folk art installation consisting of thirteen buildings and nine structures of various sizes. The building walls are constructed of found glass bottles set in concrete, creating a stained glass effect when viewed from inside. The buildings, or houses, are connected by a mosaic walkway inlaid with various found objects including jewelry, scissors, guns, tools, combs, curlers, nails, nuts and bolts. The houses include: Cleopatra's Bedroom; the Round House; School House; Shell House; Rumpus Room (or Best Room); Cabana; Little Hut; Shot Glass House; the Leaning Tower of Bottle Village; and Pyramid Planter.

    Remarks: 
    The installation was begun in the 1950s. Materials for the installation were gathered from the city dump. The property the installation is sited on was originally owned by Prisbrey and her husband. It was later sold to Morton H. Paster and was in turn owned by John Tynsky, Milton Katz, Phillips Enterprises, Publication Development and Preserve Bottle Village Committee. The installation is listed as a State of California Historic Landmark, as well as a County of Ventura and City of Simi Valley Cultural Landmark. IAS files contain copies of related articles from Los Angeles Times (1976, 1992); the Enterprise (1982, 1992, 1994); Enterprise Sun & News (1977); Folk Art Messenger (Summer 1992); Post-Advocate (Alhambra, CA) (1964); and Glass Magazine, Vol. 10, No. 1 (1983).
