Description:
Abraham Lincoln stands atop tall shaft with four Union military figures around the base. The figures are installed one at each corner: an infantryman holding his rifle stands at parade rest; an artilleryman holding a cannon plunger stands at attention; a cavalryman drawing his sword; and a sailor holding a bugle. The shaft is decorated with garlands of vines.

Remarks:
In 1917, the local Grand Army of the Republic established a monument committee that along with the Commercial Club successfully lobbied the Reno County Commission to provide funding for a memorial to Civil War soldiers of Reno County. The total cost of the monument was $20,500. The Hutchinson Monument Works, in association with Hugh A. Price of Chicago submitted the winning design for the monument.
