Description:
Bust of Poppenhusen without any adornment rests on a tiered base made of two colors of stone. The monument is installed in a triangular-shaped park whichis enclosed by a low fence.

Remarks:
SOS survey listed polished marble as the base medium. Conrad Poppenhusen was a philanthropist who was the benefactor of the town of College Point in Flushing, New York. He founded the Poppenhusen Institute, the First Reformed Church and the Poppenhusen Library. He was also responsible for paved roads to Flushing and for building the Flushing and Northside Railroad. The sculpture was made possible through contributions made by local citizens.
