    Description: 
    An abstract sculpture consisting of two large half orbs with positive and negative interlocking inner faces. The inner faces are polished, while the outer surfaces are textured with cast medicine bottles, twigs, a tree trunk, sea shells, hand prints, and various tool marks and striations.

    Remarks: 
    Work was commissioned as part of the University of Houston's one percent-for-art program. Preliminary maquettes were submitted sometime prior to March 19, 1975, when an official contract letter was sent to the artist. The work was cast in Madrid; the artist oversaw its campus installation.
    IAS files include a copy of March 19, 1975 correspondence between University Vice President and the artist, offering the terms of the commission; and a copy of the Jan. 4, 1977, custom's declaration. IAS files also contain related articles from Clear Lake News Citizen (Houston, TX), Dec. 18, 1977; and the Houston Chronicle, Dec. 14, 1974, pg. 6, sect. 3 and April 17, 1975, pg. 2, sect. 2.
