Description:
The stone is carved in relief with a profile portrait of William Shakespeare, with the quote "ALL THAT LIVE MUST DIE." incised above it. Below the portrait of Shakespeare there is an incised inscription by the ladies and gentlemen of the Dramatic Profession of America.

Remarks:
One of 193 commemorative stones set into the interior walls of the Washington Monument. The stones were donated by states, cities, towns, organizations, individuals, and foreign countries in honor of George Washington. The ladies and gentlemen of the Dramatic Profession of America donated the stone, which is located at the 280 ft. level.
