Administered by Porter County, County Commissioners, 155 Indiana, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383
Located Porter County Courthouse, North side, Valparaiso, Indiana
    Remarks:
The Valparaiso Improvement Association remodeled the courthouse square in the early seventies. As part of the remodeling they planned a fountain and asked the Porter County Bicentennial Committee to develop the project and seek funds. The Bicentennial Committee approached the artist and asked him to design a sculpture and fountain for the area. In July 1976, the Porter County Arts Commission accepted responsibility for the project and undertook to raise the necessary funds from business and individual contributors. The limestone used for the base is the same as the limestone used in the courthouse. IAS files contain an excerpt from Jon Dilt's "Magnificent 92," pg. 134 and an excerpt from an unidentified source.
