See IAS files for a photocopy of Nov. 11, 1920 dedication pamphlet and an unidentified newspaper clipping that provides details about the upcoming dedication ceremonies. The monument was erected at a cost of about $3,750 dollars, with land purchased by then Major Frank L. Wilcox, president of the Fidelity Trust Company. The Fox & Becker Granite Company of Middletown was awarded the contract for the work. Architect William F. Brooks was responsible for the landscape design and it is believed that Charles Henry Niehaus sculpted the eagle.
