    Description: 
    Figure of a woman sitting with her proper right knee up. She is up on a marble pedestal looking down at a small boy who has his proper right hand up. The boy stands on the back of a small turtle in a quatrefoil basin. There are three ducks located along the sides of the basin.

    Presented by Suzanne Allen Weber, Molly Allen Kennedy, Clyde Nichols, Jr., and Miller Nichols. The fountain is a memorial to Earl Wilson Allen and his wife Eleanor Nichols Allen, daughter of the late Jesse Clyde Nichols. Nearby marker reads: IN MEMORY OF/ELEANOR NICHOLS ALLEN/AND/EARL WILSON ALLEN/PRESENTED TO THE PLAZA IN 1962/BY THEIR FAMILIES/S. GEMIGNANI SCULPTOR/FLORENCE, ITALY. IAS files contain copies from Piland, Sherry, and Ellen J. Uguccioni, "Fountains of Kansas City: A History and Love Affair," Kansas City: City of Fountains Foundation, 1985, pg. 259-260; and copies of newspaper articles from the Kansas City Star, July 14, 1962; and the Kansas City Star, Wednesday Magazine, July 25, 1962. The book and newspaper articles discuss the acquisition of the fountain and include biographies of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilson Allen, in whose memory the fountain was dedicated.
    In 2004, Kansas City Adopt A Monument reported that all sculptures owned by the J. C. Nichols company should be changed to Highwoods Property.
