Dimensions:  Sculpture: approx. 2 ft. x 6 ft. 10 in. x 5 ft. 9 in. Description:  Abstract bronze sculpture mounted in a circular aggregate concrete basin that is lined with bricks around top edge. Subject:  Homage -- Jefferson, Thomas Abstract Object Type:  Fountain Outdoor Sculpture -- Washington -- Seattle Sculpture Owner:  Jefferson Terrace, 800 Jefferson, Seattle, Washington Remarks:  Gift of Nellie M. Fick, through a bequest to the Seattle Foundation. This fountain was created for the artist's own home, but was purchased by the Seattle Foundation for placement at Jefferson Terrace. Fick specifically bequeathed funds to the Seattle Foundation to purchase an artwork to honor Thomas Jefferson. Nearby plaque reads: JEFFERSON FOUNTAIN/GIFT OF NELLIE M. FICK/AS A MEMORIAL TO THOMAS JEFFERSON/THROUGH THE SEATTLE FOUNDATION-1969/SCULPTOR, JAMES FITZGERALD. IAS files contain copy from Rupp, James M., "Art in Seattle's Public Places: An Illustrated Guide," Seattle: University of Washington Press, 1992, pg. 137, which gives the name of the donor as Nellie Mitchell Frick; however, the plaque near the fountain gives the donor's name as Nellie M.
