Remarks:
The sculpture was commissioned by the Student Affiliate Chapter of the American Institute of Interior Designers, who assisted the artist in some phases of preparation. It was the first sculpture commissioned for the campus and was presented to the School of Home Economics, where the artist taught. It was dedicated at the University's homecoming in 1964. It was replaced sometime before 1968 by a Cor-Ten steel sculpture of the same title, also done by artist (see IAS record MO000360).
IAS files contain dedication invitation Sept. 25, 1964; University press releases (Sept. 28, 1964 and Nov. 16, 1964), A.I.D. subcommittee documentation on dedication of sculpture; and article from Columbia Missourian, Nov. 6, 1964.
