Remarks:
Work on the "new" capitol (Nebraska's third) began in 1922 and was completed in 1934 at a cost of nearly ten million dollars. Goodhue was the architect; Lawrie, the sculptor. Lawrie's original design called for winged buffalos; but design was modified. IAS files contain related excerpt from "A Harmony of the Arts: the Nebraska State Capitol," edited by Frederick Luebke, 1990; and excerpts from American Architect, Oct. 1934.
