    Funded by the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration, and supported by local hospitals. IAS files contain copies of newspaper articles from Los Angeles Evening Herald and Express, July 25, 1934, which discusses an earlier design by the same artist for a more elaborate monument to Florence Nightingale; Hollywood Citizen-News, March 18, 1937, which discusses dedication plans for the figure; Los Angeles Times, July 30, 1971, and Los Angeles Times, May 2, 1974, both of which discuss the chronic state of vandalism and disrepair of the figure. IAS files contain copy of dedication program; and news clipping from Los Angeles Times, Aug. 2, 1936, which has photograph of model for sculpture.
