Description:
The fountain sculpture is a world globe made of twenty-one horizontal and vertical steel rods with continents made from welded copper straps bolted to the steel rods. The sculpture is placed in the center of a circular concrete basin with tiled side walls and a wooden bench encasing the rim. The basin contains three water jets which surround the fountain sculpture.

The fountain is dedicated to all Southern Baptist missionaries and was given by Dr. Bill Wallace, the Southern Baptist Medical Missionary to China, 1935-1951, in memory of his daughter Judith Ann English (March 16, 1939 - Jan. 4, 1963). The globe was commissioned by the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board which has a similar seven-foot globe at its headquarters. The globe was financed through private donations. IAS files contain inter-organizational correspondence from the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Abroad, dated March 1, 1985; an article from the Richmond Times Dispatch, May 16, 1986; and an article from the Biblical Record, Sept. 6, 1986.
