    Remarks: 
    William Tallman, born Fairhaven, Massachusetts, May 18, 1892 and died New Bedford, Massachusetts, June 19, 1973, was the founder of the architectural firm of Tallman, Drake and Guay. He served as a member of the Fairhaven Planning Board from 1936-1955 and as a member of the Fairhaven Board of Selectmen from 1929-1933. He also served as a trustee of the Riverside Cemetery Corporation, the Fairhaven Institution for Savings, the Millicent Library, the Swain School, and St. Luke's Hospital.
    A handwritten note in pencil on paper attached to back of painting reads: "Elizabeth T. Delano / 14 Summer Street / Fairhaven, Mass." A small tag attached to back of picture wire reads: "Nathalie Tallman." Also attached to the back of the painting are two exhibition labels for exhibitions held at the Old Dartmouth Historical Society and Whaling Museum, New Bedford, Massachusetts: "Artists of New Bedford" Nov. 15, 1990 to Feb. 4, 1991 and "The New Women" April 1994 to April 1995. A photograph of the painting was published in the book "Picture History of Fairhaven," Spinner Publishing, 1986, pg. 119.
