Her home was a cabin on Horse Creek, a tributary of the Copper River. She died in Cordova in 1925. She was painted often by Dahlager, Eustace Paul Ziegler (1881-1969) and Harvey Goodale (1900-1980). Portraits of Horse Creek Mary and Chief Johnson (67530414) are frequently found as pairs. Bears original printed Horse Creek Mary biographical label signed at the bottom: Painting by / Jules B.
