Description:
A doughboy standing with his gun slung over his proper left shoulder. His proper left arm is bent and his proper left hand rests where the gun strap would have been. In his proper right hand he holds out a bunch of poppies. The proper left hand is set up for the placement of real flowers.

Remarks:
Gayle and Cohen publication contains a 1935 photograph of the sculpture which shows the gun strap in place. John McCrae wrote the poem "Flanders Field" just before he was killed in action during World War I.
