Description:
A tall rectangular relief panel at the entrance to the college features allegorical figures representing Agriculture and a tall fluted column representing the Cultural Arts. To the right of the column a man stands beside a horse, resting his proper arm on a horse. Seated at his feet is a woman holding a sheaf of wheat. Stone curbing that extends from either side of the base is adorned with a border of acorns and seeds.

Remarks:
The relief was created through the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project. When the relief was installed, the inscription at the top was damaged and had to be recarved. Later the word "MICHIGAN" was removed from the same inscription, but was replaced in 1976-1977. IAS files contain articles from Michigan State College's The Record (July 1939): pg. 9 and (July 1938): pg. 15; and Michigan State College's Honor Roll (1976-1977): pg. 4.
