    Burnished bronze life-size figure of a miner. He is seated and holds a pick axe in his proper right hand. Rising behind him is a slightly curved bronze panel with stainless steel mountain peaks at top.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was funded through a bequest of Senator Samuel D. Nicholson, a previous Leadville miner and a Denver banker, who died in 1923. The sculpture cost $40,000 and the funds were not freed from the estate until the death of Nicholson's son in 1976.
