Description:
Full-length portrait of Ludwig van Beethoven with his arms behind him holding a hat and cane. His long overcoat is opened in the front, revealing a partially unbuttoned vest with a missing button, and a scarf is stuffed in his coat pocket. His disheveled look is emphasized by unruly hair, an upturned collar, and baggy trousers.

Remarks:
The sculpture was funded by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in honor of William Andrews Clark, Jr., who founded the orchestra. Robert D. Farquhar designed the base and inscriptions. The sculpture was originally located on the north side of Pershing Square. It was removed from the Park in 1992 and returned in 1994.
