    A standing portrait of Daniel Webster with his proper left hand resting on a fasces. In his proper right hand he holds a scroll. The sculpture rests on a tall square base which rests on three steps.

    The sculpture was funded by the Webster Memorial Committee. IAS files contain an excerpt from Loredo Taft's "The History of American Sculpture," New York: Macmillan, 1924, pg. 69. IAS files also contain brief article from the Daily Evening Transcript (Boston), March 2, 1854, 2:2, discussing the early interest in erecting the statue honoring Daniel Webster in Boston.
