Remarks:
Commissioned by the Board of Trustees of Buena Vista College in honor of Storm Lake native Dr. Harold Walter Siebens. The figure was donated to the college and the City of Storm Lake by the Board. Dr. Siebens, who died in 1989, donated $18 million to the college in 1980, which provided for the Harold Walter Siebens School of Business/Siebens forum, as well as endowed programs in the sciences, computer science, career placement services, and others. He was also an avid fisherman, holding international fishing records. Figure was created with an image taken from a photograph of Siebens as a boy in Storm Lake. IAS files contain a program from the dedication ceremony, two press releases from Buena Vista College, and a related article from Des Moines Sunday Register (Des Moines, IA), Oct. 30, 1994, pg. 88, which includes a rear photo of the statue.
