OLSON/1891-1936/TWENTY-SECOND GOVERNOR/OF/THE STATE OF MINNESOTA signed Founder's mark appears. Description:  Standing figure of Floyd B. Olson in a suit and tie. His proper left hand is in his jacket pocket. His proper right hand is raised and is pointing. A stack of books and an owl surrounded by oak leaves and acorns stand behind figure's proper right leg. The site of the memorial, near Olson's birthplace, was originally to include a museum, amphitheater and park for which the state allocated $16,220, but ultimately, only the statue was erected. This is Carlo Brioschi's last major work. Floyd B. Olson (1891-1936) was a three-term governor of Minnesota who died in office.
