    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was commissioned in 1973 by the City of Louisville for what was then Federal Plaza, now Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. Nearby plaque reads: RIVER HORSE/BY BARNEY BRIGHT/GIFT OF/MR AND MRS BARRY BINGHAM, SR. According to the artist, the piece is a symbol of Louisville's growth and spirited renaissance. IAS files contain copy of Conservation Assessment dated Nov. 6, 1990, from Venus Bronze Works (Detroit, MI). IAS files contain clipping from Louisville Courier-Journal, Aug. 10, 1975; and article from Louisville Magazine, June 1985.
