Description:
Abstract stainless steel sculpture of a stylized figure with arms raised upward, symbolizing youth striving for greater goals. The sculpture is on a pedestal of exposed aggregate. Nearby is a slightly smaller pedestal which bears a plaque with an inscription. An even smaller pedestal stands nearby, without adornment. All three pedestals rest on one short, wide, circular, concrete base.

Remarks:
Donated by the Kansas City Junior Chamber of Commerce in memory of Salvatore Grisafe, a 17-year-old youth who was shot to death on April 19, 1964, while preventing the robbery of two women. IAS files contain copy of newspaper photograph from Kansas City Times, April 22, 1968, with caption discussing dedication.
