    Description: 
    Heraldic sculpture group in west gable end of Turnverein building. Two figures (male and female) flank a cartouche in which is an oval portrait of Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, the "Turnvater" or father of the gymnasium movement. Jahn has a high brow, long hair and beard. The surrounding male figure's proper right arm is extended and holds what appears to be a flaming torch (now badly eroded.) Spaces are filled with festoons and scrolls.
