These two works were reproduced from models Kemeys created for the grounds of the World's Columbian Exposition. In 1911, when Humbolt Park was being landscaped, the World's Fair Association commissioned sculptor
Jules
Bercham to reproduce these figures in bronze under the direction of Jens Jensen. The Chicago Park District Monument and Sculpture Photographic Archives contains black and white photos of the original plaster sculptures and the bronze. The Chicago Park District Monument and Sculpture Preservation Files contain several news articles, miscellaneous correspondence, and sculpture conservation treatment reports with slide documentation and black and white photographs.
