Description:
Three male figures, one standing, two seated. The standing figure is Alexander Majors, who holds a top hat in his proper right hand. The center figure is John C. McCoy, who holds an open map on his lap. The final figure is James Bridger. He wears a hat and holds a rifle in his proper right hand. All three are dressed in pioneer clothing of the period; Majors and McCoy wear suits and Bridger wears the clothes of a hunter.

Remarks:
Commissioned by the Native Sons of Kansas City and the Westport Historical Society. Contributions came from local businesses, organizations and private donations. Alexander Majors (1814-1900) was a local shipper and partner in the Pony Express. John C. McCoy (1811-1889) was a surveyor who platted the town of Kansas (City), Missouri. James Bridger (1804-1881) was an explorer and resident of Westport. IAS files include the text of nearby plaques, an article from the Kansas City Star, Oct. 5, 1987 and sitter information.
