    Portrait of Henry Rosenberg, seated in an upholstered armchair. He has a goatee and is dressed in turn of the century clothing, with a flower in his buttonhole. His overcoat is draped over the back of the chair. His hands rest in his lap.

    Commissioned by Sidney Sherman of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Henry Rosenberg (1824-1893) was a Swiss born banker and a philanthropist. Benefactions to Galveston include, Texas Heroes Monument, YMCA Building (demolished), Letitia Rosenberg Home, Eaton Chapel and Grace Episcopal Church, Rosenberg School and Rosenberg Library.
