Description:
Fountain designed as niche in cut stone wall supporting veranda. Head of lion on keystone of arch. Projecting from niche is basin with stylized curled leaf forms as rim. Smaller basin inside niche, also with curled leaf rim.

Remarks:
U.S. Epperson, an insurance executive, commissioned Horace LaPierre, a Kansas City architect, to design a mansion for him based on various English historical styles. The house and fountain were built between 1919 and 1923. The Epperson mansion is now owned by the University of Missouri.
