Inscription:  (Relief, lower right edge:) Edmond Amateis signed Description:  One of four reliefs flanking the main entrance to the post office on 9th Street. The reliefs symbolize the tireless efforts of postal workers who deliver the mail in the various outer reaches of America. Representing the arctic north, a standing profile figure of Eskimo dressed in a hooded parka attends to his dog sled. He reaches over with his proper right hand to pat one of the two dogs attached to his sled. In his proper left hand he holds a whip. His sled is loaded with mail bags. In the background, there are bare trees.
