Description:
Installed in the former Wabash Plaza is a rectangular fountain basin and stone wall inscribed with CHICAGO REMEMBERS over a recessed panel featuring a sculpture of the Vietnam service medal. Stretching horizontally across the wall is a rectangular black granite panel inscribed with the names of those who died during the Vietnam War. A stone wall to the right is adorned with plaques including a rectangular inscription plaque titled "Chicago Remembers," a square plaque with the insignia for POW-MIA, and eight circular medallions depicting the insignias for the branches of the armed services that served during the Vietnam War.

Remarks:
This memorial is dedicated to veterans from all branches of the armed services who served in Vietnam. It replaces the former Vietnam Memorial on Wacker Drive that was dedicated on November 11, 1982. The inscribed stones from the earlier memorial have been incorporated into the plaza of this memorial designed by architect Carol Ross Barney. The sculpture of the Vietnam service medal was created by Vietnam veteran Gary Tillery.
