    Remarks:
First erected in 1921 and dedicated in 1929 in memory of Leavenworth and Wyandotte County residents killed in World War I. It was funded by a county-wide tax imposed by Leavenworth County commissioners. When the highway was widened, Leavenworth County assumed full responsibility, moving the sculpture from Victory Junction to the county courthouse. Renovated in 1980 by Theel Manufacturing, and rededicated to the memory of those who died in all wars, especially the World Wars, Korean War, and Vietnam War. IAS files contain transcription of nearby plaque and a statement by Alberta Higgins attributing the design of the figure to her father, Albert Textor. IAS files also contain related articles from: The Leavenworth Times, Nov. 12, 1929; and The Kansan, May 28, 1979.
