A standing figure of a Civil War soldier holding his rifle vertically in front of him. The sculpture rests atop a square granite shaft.

Remarks:
The memorial honors those from Taunton who died in the Civil War. Mosman created the sculpture at a cost of $1,300. The granite base was designed by former GAR commander Abner Coleman and was created by John B. Sullivan of Taunton at a cost of $980.
