    Description: 
    Abstract arch consisting of two vertical semi-circles joined at the top by a house-like structure with a roof and chimney. The stainless steel sculpture is unpolished and rests on a concrete base which sits flush with the ground.

    Remarks: 
    Schroeder was the longest living permanently implanted heart recipient, living for 620 days on the Jarvik-7 artificial heart. He was a native of Jasper, Indiana. The sculpture was installed by Schroeder's Jasper High School classmates, who raised $15,000 for the memorial. IAS files contain copies of related articles from The Herald (Dubois County, IN), Nov. 14, 1988; Indianapolis Star, Nov. 14, 1988 and Evansville Courier, Nov. 14, 1988.
