Description:
An ornately carved keystone with low relief carving of curving vines, out of which peers a male face with a prominent thin nose, heavy-browed eyes and full lips with a dangling mustache. The keystone is mounted on top of the cornerstone of the Old White County Courthouse which serves as a base. The sculpture is set upon a slab foundation.

Remarks:
The keystone and cornerstone were recovered from the Old White County Courthouse, after a 1974 tornado destroyed much of it, and installed on the grounds of the new White County Courthouse in 1975. The old courthouse was designed by LaBelle and French, a Marion, Indiana architectural firm. Contractors for the courthouse were the Barnett and Record Company. The courthouse was built in 1894. IAS files contain a related excerpt from Jon Dilts' "Magnificent '92," pg. 189.
