    Remarks:
The sculpture is the focal point of the Shrine and Garden of the Annunciation of St. Mary's Church, a memorial to the loved ones of the parish who have passed away. The shrine was conceived of by a member of the church's Holy Name Society, and a fund drive for the project was begun on Mother's Day in May of 1963. The sculptures arrived from Italy in Feb. 1964, and construction of the shrine by a local contractor was begun at that time. The shrine was dedicated on Mother's Day, May 10, 1964. IAS files contain a copy of a church pamphlet that discusses the history of the shrine project and lists the donors.
