The sculpture was originally sited just north of its present location in a courtyard between the church and the monastery, set on a fieldstone pedestal. It was moved to its present site in the early 1960s. IAS files contain Aug. 16, 1985 correspondence with the Indiana State Museum's State Historic Preservation Office, stating that the sculpture is most likely made of sandstone.
