    Remarks:
The circular concept of the fountain alludes to Indianapolis as Circle City. The fountain was constructed to operate year round, with the ice buildup in the winter creating ice sculpture. The mechanical and electrical consulting engineering firm for the fountain project was Fountains, Incorporated; structural engineering firm was Le Messurier Associates. The fountain inspired the museum's logo. Plaque across the street from the fountain reads: THE/SUTPHIN FOUNTAIN/IN MEMORY OF SAMUEL BRADY SUTPHIN/1972.
