    Owner:
Palmer True Value Hardware, 1635 Cassopolis Street, Elkhart, Indiana 46514
    Provenance:
Formerly located Palmer Hardware, Prairie Court, Easy Shopping Place, Elkhart, Indiana 1965-1989.
    Remarks:
The sculpture was installed by the original owner of Palmer Hardware, Bob Grubb, at the store's first location in the Easy Shopping Place commercial area along Prairie Court east of downtown Elkhart. Grubb used the sculpture as an advertisement for his business. At this location the sculpture was slightly damaged twice, when struck by a stray bullet and when a small bomb blew up. In 1989 the sculpture was moved to the store's new location on Cassopolis Street, where it was installed in November of 1993. In December 1993 vandals knocked over the sculpture. It broke across the top of the figure's boots causing the figure to fall on its back. The sculpture was later repaired. IAS files contain a related article from the South Bend Tribune, Dec. 31, 1993.
