Description:
The sculpture depicts a huge sprouting seed pod with long tendrils extending from the center of the seed pod. The sculpture is attached to the frame of a window under the overhang of the building.

Remarks:
The initiator for the project was the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Philadelphia. The inscription on a plaque attached to the window behind the sculpture reads: The Seed/forged iron sculpture by Christopher T. Ray/source: Deuteronomy 8:7-8:11/"..For the/Lord they God bringeth/thee into a good land..."/The Seed symbolizes the generation of/creative life in America, the good land/which has made us welcome. In its roots/exist the reminder of our origins and/traditions./ In the leaves are the elements of/continuing growth.
