CONTINUING THE/EDUCATIONAL HERITAGE BEGUN BY THAT SCHOOL/WERE THE YORK COUNTY ACADEMY, INCORPORATED IN 1787; THE YORK COLLEGIATE INSTITUTE, FOUNDED/IN 1873; AND YORK JUNIOR COLLEGE, ESTABLISHED IN/1941. AS YORK COLLEGE OF PENNSYLVANIA SINCE/1968, THIS INSTITUTION STILL IS IMBUED WITH THE WITH THE/HIGH STANDARDS OF SCHOLARSHIP, SERVICE AND/INTEGRITY WHICH MARKED THE LIFE AND CAREER OF JOHN ANDREWS/THIS STATUE, BY YORK COLLEGE'S SCULPTOR-IN-/RESIDENCE, ZOEL BURICKSON, IS A GIFT TO THE/COLLEGE FROM MR. Remarks:
Sculpture commemorates Reverend John Andrews (1746-1813), who opened a classical school in the late 1700s, a predecessor of York College. The artist was York College's sculptor-in-residence. The sculpture is a gift from the artist and descendants of John Andrews. The base was a gift of Ray S. Noonan.
